Volunteer Farming at a Local Neighborhood Organic Farming Field

TSUKUBA – November 24th, 2021: A small group of TIAS2.0 and IDS (International Development and Peace through Sport) graduate students took part in a volunteering activity at Tsukuba Shizen Noen (Tsukuba Organic Farm), an organic farm located in Tsukuba Mirai-shi led by the Sakamoto family. Originally specialized in different fields, the Tsukuba Organic Farm claims that being newcomers into farming allows them to innovate and challenge ingrained beliefs in traditional farming families. Practices such as the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides are considered unnecessary at Tsukuba Organic Farm, instead relying on a composting method that utilizes the microorganisms naturally found in local soil. → Find out more details
